Right at the coast, located on a little peninsula, lays the picturesque capital, Santander. The city offers long and wind protected beaches to surf or swim, and beautiful little allies with vivid bars and restaurants which offer fresh local fish and exquisite tapas.
Just a few kilometers outside Santander surfers can find a variety of good surf breaks. “Playa Somo” and “Playa Langre” for example offer great options for small and medium swells and good protection from west winds.
On the other side of Santander lays the small town of “Liencres”, which holds the most consistent beach break of the whole area. A bit further to the west, the town “San Vicente de la Barquera” has two popular and scenic beach breaks called “Oyambre” and “Gerra”, and it also offers a great escape and a more quiet vibe for those who find it too busy in Liencres.
